What makes Team Poly tanks a quality product?

All Team Poly tanks are thoroughly tested. Testing begins even before your tank is produced with our typical tank test plan is as follows:

  • Raw material resin certification from supplier to AS 4020 & AS 2070 (Potable Water & Food Grade)
  • Compound Powder Certification to AS 4020 & AS 2070. Colour pigments for algae growth prevention UV additives to enhance material longevity.
  • In-house Laboratory Testing for Melt Flow Index, Particle Size, Sieve Testing.
  • Product Thickness Testing using non-destructive Ultra Sonic Thickness Testing.
  • Sample Impact Testing to assure material compliance during processing.
  • Slice Test analysis to ensure non-porous wall integrity.
  • Capacity Testing to ensure the stated specified capacity of your tank is assured.
  • Final Inspection, which includes a final visual check that your Tank meets acceptance criteria for first grade quality.
  • Pre-Delivery Inspection, our drivers are trained to handle inspect product, ensuring you receive only Tanks that meet our internal standards. If it’s not acceptable to them it’s not loaded.
  • Traceability: Your Tank has a unique identification Serial Number, you can find this on every nameplate on the side of each Tank. This number enables us to trace the product back to base resins received through our record system. Inspection Test records are also accessible which identify the type of test and responsible Team Poly representative, who approved your Tank.
  • All of the above processes are in Compliance within AS 4766 requirements.

Team Poly also have an extensive database that enables every product sold to be monitored for warranty claims. This data is analysed and fed back into the manufacturing process for design improvements.

Do you provide guarantee on your tanks?

Yes! All Team Poly tanks are covered by a pro-rata warranty period of up to 25 years depending on your chosen tank.

The best warranty however, is never having to claim it. You want to know the tank you buy will last. All Team Poly sites are certified to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems. Not all manufacturers or tank importers can boast this.

Team Poly always strive to provide a strong and durable product that you can depend upon. Our stringent testing during the manufacturing process helps to ensure this.

Are Team Poly tanks made in Australia?

Yes, Team Poly is an Australian manufacturer. All our products are made right here in Australia according to strict Australian and international standards.

Which Australian standards apply to rainwater tanks?

The most applicable standards are AS 4020 potable water and AS 2070. These standards refer to suitability of your tank providing safe drinking water and food grade compatibility. Certified materials are used in all Team Poly tanks.

What are Team Poly tanks made from?

Team Poly rainwater tanks are made using high quality UV-stabilised food-grade polyethylene.

Don’t poly tanks split at the seams?

Team Poly tanks do not have seams. Our tanks are not made from two sides joined together, but rather they are formed as one. Lines may be visible on the outside of the tank but this is just part of the moulding process.

What roof surfaces are suitable for collecting rainwater?

The most suitable roofing materials for collecting safe drinking water are:

  • Colorbond® steel sheets or tiles
  • Zincalume® steel sheets or tiles
  • Glazed tiles well fired
  • Concrete/cement tiles
  • Clay tiles
  • Composite tiles (bitumen based)

How do I protect against mosquitoes?

To prevent mosquito breeding and contamination of tank water, guttering and pipe work should be self-draining and fitted with appropriate drainage points and screens.

What accessories come with Team Poly tanks?

What you will receive with your Team Poly tank depends on your chosen tank design. Different tanks come with different fittings.

All tanks generally come with necessary multiple threaded outlet points, bungs, leaf strainers, overflow elbows and screens.

Look up the specific tank model you desire on our site. Keep in mind though, that inclusions can change without notice, but you can confirm them when placing your order.

Can I safely drink rainwater from my Team Poly tank?

Yes. Team Poly tanks are made from food grade polyethylene that will not taint or colour the water.

It is still important to ensure that all roof areas and gutters are clean. As such, some people desire to also filter their tank water for drinking.

Do I need a plumber to install my Team Poly tank?

If you are installing a water switch and/or pump to connect your Team Poly tank to your home water (e.g., so you can use the water in the laundry or toilet), then you will need a licensed plumber to perform your installation.

Your plumber will likely need to also certify your installation if you are claiming a water tank rebate from your local, state and/or federal government.

What rebates are available for installing rainwater tanks?

They are always changing, however our tank rebates page will point you in the right direction.

How much rainfall is there in my area?

For up to date statistics on average rainfall in your area, look up your location at the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

How often should I clean my tank?

Rainwater is harvested from roofs, channelled down gutters and through downpipes. These surfaces can also catch dirt and dust that ends up in your rainwater tank.

Leaf strainers, gutter guards and other filtration systems (both in and out of the tank) all provide protection against dirt and dust entering your tank.

It is still beneficial to clean your rainwater tank every 2 to 3 years to remove sediment and ensure the highest quality water possible is being stored in your tank.

Team Poly large round tanks have removable lids to enable efficient and safe cleaning to be carried out.
